After a few months of hemming and hawing, I’m finally putting the finishing touches on my monograph of rock & roll photography taken between 1996 and today. I just mocked up a cover that’s probably close to what the finally product is going to be. For those curious, the hands and guitar in question belong to one Mick Jones, singer and guitarist for The Clash. I shot the photo last year at a Carbon/Silicon concert at Asbury Lanes. The original photo was in color, but the terrible yellow color-cast produced by the minimal lighting at the club begs to be converted to black and white.
I was originally using the working title “Rock Revolution” until I realized that there was a terrible Guitar Hero ripoff game of the same name. Not that it matters since most of the bands featured in the book are punk and hardcore acts. I’m now on the time consuming process of labeling and dating every caption. I wish I had meta data from all the negatives I took with disposable cameras back in the late ’90s. Thank god for Wikipedia. I’ll have some sample pages as I near completion. Now I just need to sit down for a few hours and write an introduction.
