About 15 minutes into my photo shoot with Stephanie and Marty, I asked the two if they had any problem doing some silly poses to break up the normal pattern of head-to-head kissing/cuddling/nuzzling. Without missing a beat, Stephanie replied, “We love weird; just tell us what to do.” At that moment, I knew I had an awesome couple to work with. The scene was Coney Island’s boardwalk. We had been hemming and hawing about the location due to the recent damage by Super Storm Sandy and the fact that it was Memorial Day weekend, but luck was on our side, and we had the boardwalk more or less to ourselves (ignoring the occasional photo bomber). Stephanie had wanted an engagement portrait location that was a little bit gritty, a little bit beachy and a ton of fun. We nailed it. The only thing that kept us from shooting all night was the cold (which, oddly enough, got bitter around 8pm). Here are a few of my favorite shots. And yes, Coney Island (as well as Nathan’s, The Cyclone and the Wonder Wheel) is open for business.
