When I booked Annie and David’s wedding, I knew they were friends with Batya and Matt, whose wedding I was shooting a few months earlier. What I didn’t realize, was that both couples actually lived in the same apartment. So when I went to photograph Annie and David’s New York engagement session a week after Batya and Matt’s, I thought I had royally screwed up when I showed up at the exact apartment I had been to seven days ago. I also got slightly stressed was having to photograph the two couples in the exact same vicinity. Luckily, Annie rocks and picked an entirely different location that I had never been to — the West Side Highway path along the Hudson River that leads to Riverside Park.
We spent the afternoon winding our way towards the river, hitting up some of the cool architecture for quick photos before settling on cool little sculpture park near the waterfront. David and Annie have huge hearts and clearly share a love for the arts and fellow gingers. I had already photographed a handful of weddings that Annie was part of and I was instantly struck by her outgoing personality and ability to fire up any room she enters. David is an accomplished musician and absolutely brilliant on behind a keyboard, but his full time job is clearly bringing a smile to Annie’s face, because he does it so effortlessly.
