Frequently Asked Wedding Photography Questions

Everything You Want to Know But Were Afraid to Ask

How would you describe your style of photography?
I call myself a modern documentary photographer, but I wouldn’t pigeonhole my style into one category. I love photojournalism, but have no problem making beautiful formals. My goal is to capture the story of your wedding and help you retain those memories forever.

How far are you willing to travel?
Most packages include travel within the tri-state area, including New York City, all of New Jersey, and Philadelphia. However, I am available for a limited number of destination weddings. Please contact me to work out travel arrangements and fees.

Do you offer wedding albums?
I currently provide high-quality leather and linen wedding albums in sizes 8×8, 10×10, and 12×12. Every album is custom designed to your specifications. Nothing will be published until you sign off on it. To make your life a little easier, a pre-design of the album is available about a month and a half after your wedding.

I don’t need prints. Can I just have a DVD of the images?
A DVD of high resolution images is available as an a la cart option and can be added to your custom package. While you are welcome to print your images wherever you want, I recommend that you use our professional lab to get the best quality prints that will last a lifetime.

Okay, explain to me why I should have my photos printed?
I’m old school in spirit and really believe that a photograph doesn’t truly exist unless it’s printed. People make hundreds of photos over the course of the year and most reside on a hard drive, never to be seen by friends or family. I love the printed image and encourage all my clients to make prints, frame their photos, and hang them on walls as if they are art. I don’t care if you use my printer or your local printer, just make sure that your photos are viewed, enjoyed, and cherished by everyone.

Can you ensure that my images won’t be lost or stolen?
GLK Creative has a state-of-the-art back up system. The moment your photos are downloaded to our computers, the images are replicated on a series of hard drives and shuttled up to the Internet on a secure server.

Do you have insurance?
I am covered for up to $2 million in liability insurance. Many high-end venues won’t even let the photographer through the door unless they are fully insured. Let me know in advance if you require a proof of liability insurance in advance of the event.

What kind of equipment do you use?
I use all professional Nikon cameras and lighting. I have back-ups for my back-ups. Yes, I’m a bit paranoid.

Will you bring an assistant of a second photographer?
My assistant and lovely wife Allison accompanies me on almost every shoot. A second photographer is available for an additional fee. I recommend hiring a second shooter for weddings bigger than 100 people to make sure that we capture every shot.

How many proofs should I expect to see from my wedding?
I typically provide 500 to 600 proofs with every wedding. These are photos that have been color balanced and digitally processed for printing.

Are you willing to customize a package if none of yours fits our needs?
I offer a base package that can then be customized any way you wish. I provide custom leather wedding albums, professional-grade printing, DVD of high resolution images, proof books and sign-in albums. Additional coverage includes: Rehearsal Dinner coverage, Day After Shoots, Photo Booth/Studio, and stand alone Engagement Sessions.

Do you provide the digital negatives in the package? If so, are they fully retouched?
Digital negatives are raw, unprocessed files that should not be considered a finished product. However, really want the digital negatives to your proofs, they are available for an additional cost. Digital negatives are not retouched in any way.

Do you shoot digital or film? If film, color or black and white?
All my photography is currently done on digital cameras; however, I do have a fleet of film and toy cameras if you would like to mix things up a bit.

How much retouching is included, and what will I have to pay extra for?
I do minor touch-ups, color correction and exposure adjustments to every proof, however, due to the amount of time it takes to retouch photos, only photos ordered for prints or albums are fully retouched (skin softening, blemish removal, etc). If there’s an image that you must have retouched, I’d be glad to do it at an additional cost.

Will you be photographing another wedding or event the same day as my wedding?
No, all packages include a minimum of 8 hours of photography, which is pretty much a full work day. I’m yours—and yours alone—for as long as you need me.

What if we decide to change the date of the wedding?
As long as I’m not already booked the day you are changing your wedding to, I’d be happy to alter the date.
