Brooklyn, unlike it’s sister borough Manhattan, is a compete different world, especially when you are looking for spots for an engagement session. When Lindsey approached me about her engagement photos, she had one request — she wanted to have the Brooklyn Bridge in her images, as well as some of the more urban warehouse surroundings. She was in luck; urban photography is my specialty and I love the contrast between rusty, grey, old buildings and my colorful, cheery couple.
The original plan was to do their Brooklyn Bridge engagement photos on the actual bridge, but that wasn’t in the cards as it was under renovations and foot traffic was chaotic. We went with plan B, which was to park by the nearby industrial area and make our way to the waterfront that framed the Brooklyn Bridge. To add to the excitement, we were being chased by a storm and had about an hour to capture some beautiful imagery before the wet stuff overtook us. Luckily Lindsey and John were troopers. We were able to get the portrait in front of the bridge, and I was able to get to know this amazing couple on a level that can only come from running around Brooklyn with a cloud of doom following you. This is why I love doing what I do.
