There’s no point in babbling or wasting your time. These aren’t your parent’s engagement photos and more than likely, your parents are going to say you are insane for hiring a wedding photographer willing to go to the ends of Endor to create images like these. But there we were—me, Allison, Rebecca and Clay—running around on a slippery rock formation, off the coast of Asbury Park, creating our own version of Star Wars Episode VII with half a dozen stoned hippies cheering us on from the sand. These are the moments I live for.
When I mention how important engagement sessions are, I mean it. It gives us a few hours before the wedding day to get to know each other, to help me understand what you like and what you don’t like, and for you to learn just how insane I am. Most importantly, we get the chance to throw caution to the wind and make images that are truly creative and personal, that express who the couple are as people and gives them a collection of professional photographs that could never have been created during the time constraints of a hectic wedding day.
Rebecca and Clay are geeks in love and I adore them both. This was Rebecca’s idea and I egged her on from the very beginning. After a failed attempt to pull the shoot of during Asbury’s Comic Con, we came back a few weeks later and let loose during a beautiful spring afternoon. I think the results were more than worth it. Let me know what you think.
